Providing opportunities for a wider social life and for learning new things

The Community Group is for everyone. It is eight years old and began as a way of enabling people to meet together more often, with a particular focus in mind.
Amongst our activities have been learning computer skills; tracing our ancestors; visits to Anglesey Abbey and recently to Cambridge Botanic Gardens.
Local people have talked about their lives and work.
In 2007, we organised an exhibition of photographs and documents of ‘old Barkway buildings and inhabitants’ attended not only by present village people but by those who used to live here.
Our most recent venture involved us in making healthy meals on the visiting School Cooking Bus
We have regular lunches at one of the local pubs - usually on the second Tuesday in the month - and a get together over tea on the third or fourth Thursday afternoon.
Our activities are varied. They are put together by a committee of seven who meet regularly to plan what they think members might enjoy.
Events are advertised in The Diary; on the notice Boards and on the Community Group website www.barkwaycg.org.uk
Do see if there’s anything you fancy and sign in with the person mentioned under the event.
We’d like to see you!
