As you may know, the Recreation and Pavilion Project Group has been working hard in Barkway to raise funds to provide much need facilities right here in our community. The aim is to redevelop the existing sports pavilion into a multi purpose communal sports centre but, more importantly, the plans are to include the added facility of a youth club – something that is needed in Barkway in order to sustain the growing number of families with children approaching their teens.

 

This is a very ambitious project and one that has the support of Barkway Parish Council. Research conducted as part of the Parish Plan process indicated strongly that a youth club based in suitable premises was desirable and that the existing rather dilapidated sports pavilion was in need of refurbishment. After all, the recreation ground was gifted to the village some time ago and should be maintained and improved from time to time for the benefit of the village and the surrounding area.

 

In order to fulfil this mission we need funds to achieve our aims – the total cost of the project is expected to be in the region of £170,000 and so far we have managed to raise through grants, etc. approximately £76,000.

 

To reach this target and to be able to serve the community fully, we are asking for your help. Please consider making a donation to the Recreation and Pavilion Project Group, Barkway. All monies raised will be used to fund the construction of our new facility. With this new sports centre and youth club, we shall be able to serve many people each year, which will have a positive impact on the community as a whole.

 

All donations are needed and appreciated, regardless of size. Please think about how important the work of the Recreation and Pavilion Project Group, Barkway really is, and consider the positive impact a larger and better facility will have on people of all ages and abilities in our community.
