Barkway Village Hall is at the northern end of Barkway and is available for hire to everyone.  Local residents can use the Hall at subsidised rates.
It’s a friendly hall, used by all ages including by the children’s playgroup.
The main Hall can seat up to 126 people.
There is a stage, with lighting, and a bar area.
Sound amplification facilities are available on request. There is a sprung floor which is especially suitable for keep fit and dancing.
Additionally, the newly refurbished Committee Room can be hired separately for smaller meetings.                       There is also a kitchen with cooker and microwave oven.

In keeping with the spirit of its founding trust, the Hall is operated as a community resource, ensuring that local people and organisations can hire it at affordable rates.  The deficit is typically around £3,000 per year.  That has to be made up by fund-raising events including the annual Barkway Market and the pantomime.

Barkway Market

Barkway Market is held annually in the middle of May.
The origins of Barkway Market are lost in the mists of time, but it is known that there has been a market held here for centuries.
Re-established in 1977, the annual Barkway Market typically attracts as many as 4,000 visitors from miles around.

Set in the grounds of one of Barkway’s attractive old houses, the famous Market has become a Hertfordshire tradition in its own right.
